Cosigned on a (ex)girlfriend’s loan, now she’s stopped paying. What can I do?

So I willingly admit that this was an extremely stupid thing to do, so feel free to flame me. I dated and lived with a girl for seven years. Around year three, she needed to get a student loan (from a private loan company) and had no one else capable of cosigning on it, so I did it. Well as you’ve probably figured, we broke up four years later and now she has about $200 in delinquent payments. I’m getting letters in the mail saying that this is going to negatively impact my credit score if she doesn’t pay and my tax refunds may even be withheld. I’ve contacted her and she says it is a mistake and she’s clearing it up, but the letters keep coming so I’m assuming she is not telling the truth. So basically I’m wondering if there is anything I can do at this point. Obviously I am not going to start paying on her loan, but I also don’t want my credit score to dip. Any ideas?

Not a bad price if you need something this large.

The only thing I changed is the cover. -$65 to go back to basic blace cover. Also the $608 (AB(after bing))+ 3% Perferred trick.

Anyone here work for the Sate of California? What’s it like?

I have a job offer from state of california, well almost (just need to visit the site once) with position located in Sacramento, for an entry level salary of ~60k, with chances of promotion within a year or so, if things work out.

I am working in Private Industry now based in mid-west. I will be taking a salary cut if I were to accept this CA position. However, I am inclined to take this cut, as at this point in my life I want to settle down with a stable job and not worry about getting laid off, especially with the economy as it is and there is almost certainty that many employees from my organization will be laid off, but dont know which ones and when. Also, I am fed up with almost six months of winter and snow and want to settle down in a nice warm place.

Curious what others here think..
