REQUEST – Need SUGGESTIONS for hotel in Savannah

I am looking for suggestions of nice places to stay in Savannah for anniversary weekend in mid-August. In looking at the Savannah Area Vistor’s website, they give good facts and prices but I’m looking for some first-hand feedback. Surely some FW person or another has gone to this lovely southern city and has a tip about where to stay for a couple of nights.
Certainly I see there are some $400 per night rooms — if those are just wonderful then I’d consider. If they are first-hand rated as way overpriced, then that helps too. I’m not really interested in the Days Inn or Super8 (okay for my road trips but not for a 25th anniversary!)
